भारत में इस्लाम का भविष्य
मुम्बई बम विस्फोटों के बाद एक बार फिर यह चर्चा शुरू हो गई है कि क्या इसलाम ही आतंकवाद की जड़ में है? जनसाधारण में यह धारणा अब पक्की हो चुकी है कि भारत में चल रहे आतंकवाद की असली वजह इस्लाम ही है। वहीं कुछ इस्लामी विद्वानों का कहना है कि ऐसा कहना ग़लत है, इस्लाम अमन का मज़हब है। अगर क़ुरआन और शरीयत को देखें, तो यह पशोपेश अपने आप ही समाप्त हो जाता है। मैं किसी की आस्था को चोट नहीं पहुँचाना चाहता हूँ, लेकिन तथ्यों के आधार पर कहा जाए तो इस बात को कोई नहीं नकार सकता कि इस्लाम स्वभावत: कट्टर, आक्रामक और मध्ययुगीन है। क़ुरआन में विधर्मियों को जान से मारने का आदेश साफ़-साफ़ पढ़ा जा सकता है। इसी वजह से शुऐब जैसे पढ़े-लिखे और बुद्धिजीवी लोग इस्लाम से दूर हो रहे हैं।
ईसाईयत के बाद इस दुनिया में इस्लाम के अनुयायियों की संख्या सबसे ज़्यादा है। भारत में भी इस्लाम के अनुयायी भारी तादाद में रहते हैं। इनमें से ज़्यादातर ऐसे हैं, जिनका आतंकवाद से कोई सरोकार नहीं है और वे भी भारत को उसी तरह अपना देश मानते हैं, जिस तरह कि हिन्दू मानते हैं। इसलिए विश्व हिन्दू परिषद और बजरंगदल के ये कथन कि भारत में इस्लाम का ख़ात्मा किए जाने की ज़रूरत है, असम्भव ही नहीं बल्कि घातक भी हैं। इस्लाम के ख़ात्मे का मतलब होगा २० करोड़ इंसानों का ख़ात्मा, जो एक आमानुषिक कृत्य होगा। अगर भारत के सभी मुसलमानों के पन्थान्तरण की बात कही जाए, तो वह भी व्यावहारिक तौर पर असम्भव ही है।
भारत में इस्लाम की ऐसी दुविधापूर्ण स्थिति है, जिसके बारे में कहा जा सकता है कि न इसे उगला जा सकता है और न ही निगलना मुमकिन है। इस समस्या का बस एक ही समाधान नज़र आता है और वह है एक वैचारिक तौर पर आधुनिक और उदारवादी इस्लामी सम्प्रदाय का प्रसार। जो मध्ययुगीन और कट्टर विचारों से पूरी तरह मुक्त हो। जिस तरह यूरोप में कैथॉलिक कट्टरता से आज़ादी पाने के लिए प्रोटेस्टेंट पंथ का प्रचार किया गया था, ठीक उसी तरह की प्रक्रिया इस्लाम के लिए भी ज़रूरी है।
भारत में यह होना तो दुनिया के दूसरे हिस्सों की तुलना में ख़ासा आसान है। इसकी वजह है – भारतीय इस्लाम पर सूफ़ीवाद का गहरा प्रभाव और भारत में सूफ़ियों की लम्बी परम्परा का होना। सूफ़ीवाद और वेदान्त यानी कि तात्विक हिन्दू धर्म वैचारिक तौर पर एक कहे जा सकते हैं, दोनों में ज़रा भी फ़र्क़ नहीं है। अगर सूफ़ियों के कथनों पर ग़ौर किया जाए, तो उनकी अनुभूति हिन्दू सन्तों के से सैद्धान्तिक धरातल पर आ टिकती है। अगर ध्यान से देखा जाए, तो भारतीय इस्लाम अपने मूल स्वरूप में सूफ़ीवादी इस्लाम ही है। लेकिन कई ख़ासे आधुनिक ऐतिहासिक कारणों से यह अब अपना मूल चरित्र विस्मृत कर चुका है। अगर भारत में इस्लाम को प्रगतिशील और उदारवादी होना है, तो इसके मूल सूफ़ीवादी चरित्र का पुनरुत्थान ज़रूरी है। इसके लिए न सिर्फ़ मुसलमानों को कोशिश करनी होगी, बल्कि हिन्दुओं को भी इसमें अपना पूरा सहयोग देना होगा। भारत में अगर इस्लाम फिर इस सूफ़ीवादी प्रभाव से सम्पन्न हो जाता है, तो बाक़ी की दुनिया के लिए यह एक सबक़ होगा और यह उदारवादी इस्लाम भारत से बाहर भी तेज़ी से फैल सकेगा।
आप लोगों की इस बारे में क्या राय है? क्या इस्लाम इस तरह उदारवादी और प्रगतिशील हो सकता है? या फिर इसका कोई और उपाय भी है?

बात तो आप ने बिलकुल युक्तिसंगत कही है किन्तु मुल्ला मौलवियों को कौन समझएगा। सूफियों को तो कट्टर मुस्लिम heretical मानते हैं तभी मन्सूर जैसे सूफी सन्त को शूली पर चढ़ा दिया गया था, अनल हक़ (अहम् ब्रह्मास्मि) कहने पर।

Hi Pratik,
Your solution on paper is very impressive but as far as I have experienced I think Muslims blindly believe in Quran. Religious discussion with muslims can end only with bad feelings or worse.
One time I asked a Muslim friend "Why Muhammad was pedophilic? and the answer was that he wanted to set an example in society what things are possible in the world". I wont say that this answer was representative to whole Muslim society but could not disagree too coz after all each of them have full faith in him.
Moreover, Quran says explicitly that their is only one religion & that is "Muslim". Muslims are so strict abt their religion that its scary to talk abt religion with them.
These issues have really affected each and every individual over the world and sadly nothing much can be done. We should better take care of bunch of fools sitting in Parliament who are encouraging them at the cost of our life.

मै इस बात का विरोध करता हूं कि "जनसाधारण में यह धारणा अब पक्की हो चुकी है कि भारत में चल रहे आतंकवाद की असली वजह इस्लाम ही है।" मै मानता हूं कि शायद सारे आतंकवादी इस्लामिक होंगे, पर यह मानना बेहद भ्रामक होगा कि सारे इस्लामिक लोग आतंकवादी हैं।
आपकी बात और सुझाव अच्छे हैं, इतिहास गवाह है कि समय के साथ साथ जो धर्म, जातियाँ, समाज अपने आप को नही बदलते, वे मिट जाते हैं। इस्लाम का भी लंबा इतिहास रहा है। देखना यही है कि ये कुछ कठमुल्लों की बपौती बनकर रह जाता है, या शोएब जैसे कुछ भाई इसे बदल पाते हैं।

बहुत सही लिखा प्रतीक जी, मेरा मानना भी अमूनन "गुमनाम" (तीसरी टिप्पणी) की तरह ही हैं। अगर इस्लाम बदलता है तो गैर-मुसलमानों के लिये यह सबसे खुशी की बात होगी - इसीलिये ये कहना गलत होगा कि इसमें मेरा स्वार्थ नही बल्कि मैं तो भीख माँगता हूँ रोज कि इस्लाम का विकास और प्रगति हो क्योंकि मेरी जिंदगी इस पर ही टिकी ही और मेरे हाथों मे कुछ नही बचा - पर अभी के आसारों के अनुसार ये शायद संभव नही। ना ही यह संभव है कि गैर-मुसलमान इतना नीचे गिरें कि इस्लाम के कट्टर पंथियों को किसी और तरीके से नष्ट कर सकें। मेरे अनुसार दुनिया का भविष्य मुसलमानों का आधिपत्य और बाकीयों की मौत है!
ई-छाया जी: ये समझ में नही आया कि आप किस बात का विरोध करतें है? जनसाधारण अगर कुछ मानता है तो आपके विरोध से मानना बदल नही जायेगा। आप या हम नहीं मानते तो भी जनसाधारण अपन से भी बड़ा है। अंत में यदि ये भ्रामक भी है तो क्या? जनसाधारण भ्रामक बात मानता है पर मानता तो है ना।

प्रतीक बहुत सही बात उठायी है, इस्लाम को उदारवादी बनाने के लिये पहले मेरे ख्याल से मदरसे खत्म करने पड़ेंगे। इनसे इस्लाम को फायदा तो कुछ नही होता नुकसान ही होता दिख रहा है क्योंकि यहीं से कुरान के प्रति अंधभक्ति बढ़ती है।

आपने कहा भारत में उदारवादी मुस्लीम नजरीये का प्रचार प्रसार करना चाहिए, और यह भारत में आसान है। मैरा विचार है कि यह भारत में ही मुश्कील है। क्योंकि यहाँ के जनता के प्रतिनिधि यह होने नही देंगे और आम जनता अपनी दैनिन्दीनी की समस्याओं से उपर उठकर ऐसे भागीरथ प्रयासों मे सक्रिय योगदान नही देगी।
देखा नही मुलायमसिन्ह क्या कर रहा है? यह लालु यादव जो अपनी चुनावी सभाओं में ओसामा के डुप्लीकेट को लिए फिरते हैं।

Because you kill other religions' innocent people with one hand on kuran and another with Gun or Bombs. because you can not tolerate other religions growing in prosperity and flourishing. No other religion in the world proclaims and become aggressive as Islam to annihilate all other faiths. That is why we fear Islam.

You need not study Islam basics to differentiate between Life and Death. Islam is associated with death ( Cruel and inhuman deaths) and there is no life in it except aggressions, inequality, murders, rapes, honour killings, multiple wives, forcible conversions.

No Hinduism does take the smritis word by word as you muslims take it. There were four castes in those times namely Brahmins( who is specialists in Worships.) The Kshatriyas ( who fight), Vaisya ( those who trade) and Shudras ( those who work for others). If you see the current world also it is almost the same professions we all have. But today a Shudra can also worship like a Brahman, and he can fight in Army, or trade and do the work for others and other companies. Hinduism has developed to such a Great extent that people know how to interpret the scriptures to current times.

WHO ARE THESE INDIAN MUSLIMS ?
The people who were on the lower category of the socail strata are SCs and STs and they are everywhere in the world. Like cobblers, washermen, Watchmen, Housemaids, etc., Now other castes are also doing these works and social strata is changing.
(The society has to be directed by Intellectuals, Law enforcers, Business community, and workers.)
Now every caste in India are doing every work of other castes,
A counter question? Why Shias are killing Sunnis? Bin laden is trying to over throw Saudi Regime? Bugti is killed by musharaf? Nawab Sharif is thrown out by Musharraf? Bhutto is hanged by Yahya Khan? Hizbollah is opposed by Saudis? Is it fast growing or fast depleting?

Your door is open for everybody. But once inside you have to kill Shias, Infidels, atatck them wherever they are. Your rule is one for Muslims and another for Infidels or Kaffirs.
But rule is different for Shias, Sunnis, Wahabis, Ahmediyas and Thaliban. Thaliban kills you if you play football. Pakistan kills you if you fail in cricket. Kasmairis pour acid on Girls if the Purdah is not put. And lot of Fatwas, anti fatwas etc., etc., It is all in turmoil. Quran is dead. You cannot find your answers in Quran. It is death for all.

First of all i am happy to find Hindi blog and so many nice and mature users. Most of the blog articles are very nice and the bloggers have commented carefully without hurting each other. However there were some comments on Islam for which i have some concerns. Although i am not hurt but i think i must clarify to my capacity. First of all let me tell you I am not a fanatic or blind believer of the religion. But I love the religion which I am associated with. Also, I do condemn the various acts of violence committed by Muslims (especially Pakistani in India and their own country - who have made our life hell). I do not want to go in the details on how people becomes terrorists but one thing is sure that we have terrorist from every faith or who had associated themselves with every religion like Islam, Christianity (IRA), Hindus (LTTE) and Sikhs (Punjab in 80s).
I do not want to degrade any religion or faith but I do believe that differences can be resolved if moderate people of religion join together.
Dear brothers - Muslims blindly believe in Quran but actually its now true (except for those who are illiterate). Actually there is nothing in Quran which can be believed blindly, everything is based on reason and logic. I would request you to kindly visit following website and find out yourselves.

Quran does not say that the only religion is "Muslim". Muslim is not the religion. Muslims are the follower of religion called Islam. Quran does not say that the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) was the only messenger of God. Actually quran names many other prophets clearly such as Adam , Idris (Enoch), Nuh (Noah), Hud (Eber), Saleh (Shelah), Ibrahim (Abraham), Lut (Lot), Ismail (Ishmael), Ishaq (Isaac), Yaqub (Jacob), Yusuf (Joseph), Ayub (Job), Shoaib (Jethro), Musa (Moses), Harun (Aaron), Dhul-Kifl (most likely Ezekiel), Dawood (David), Sulayman (Solomon), Ilyas (Elijah), Al-Yasa (Elisha), Yunus (Jonah), Zakariya (Zacharias), Yahya (John the Baptist) and Isa ibn Maryam (Jesus).
Moreover, Quran clearly says that 1) God has sent his messengers to all the nations on the earth 2) and that no body will be sent to hell or held accountable until a clear warner / messenger has come to him.
There is nothing to be scared about talking or discussing about our religion as long as your intention is not to hurt by saying the harsh words e.g I may ask you politely why lord Krishna had several wives or i can also ask the same question in abusive way. So i think it depends upon on how you ask your question or raise your concern.

Wow! I can understand if western Chrisitans or evn Jews commented on Islam like this but from people who don't even take baths. Gosh! I have studied different religions but hinduism has to be the sorse. Worshipping rats, drinking piss,worshipping statues. Hinduism is more spooky and creepy to me than Islam. Atleast the muslims take baths and believe in One Goad and Jesus Christ. Dissed by a hindu. Thats like being insulted from a raoch

I guess we all so called padhe likhe log would be willing agree that no religion is perfect in this world, like no man is. The very Goal or objective of all the religions is to make man perfect in terms of healthy mind, body and soul. I dont understand how can someone think of any other religion as so inhumane, if there would have been any such religion in this world it wouldnt even have lasted a day as noone could have believed in it. Mahabharta is story of continuous fraud and violence and Krishna's sayings are about killing your brother if he is liable to be killed type. Do we think that is inhumane? It all comes to one thing, what is the frame you are holding to look at the things the higher you can think of the clearer the view becomes. The very concept of God tells that there is only one God otherwise we will have different gods fighting each other proving them to be no more Gods.

pehle to me uon sab jo islam ke khilaf ya islam ko badalne ki sonchte hai. pagal ya jahil kahunga. islam oun ke baap ki jaayedaat nahi jise wo jab chahe badal de. are jo apene khud ke dharm me peda hue hai usko hi barabar nahi jante aur chale islam ko badal ne.... me batana chahunga islam kaya hai.... islam es duniya aur es jesi jitni bhi duniya hai uspar rehne walo ke kiye allah (god) ne khud utara hai. jise me nahi woh (god) khud challenge karta hai ki tum ensaan aur jin (sprit/hollow) milkar bhi aysi chees banasakte aur na hi esi badal sakte ho.
islam ne jo aur jahaa sakhtiya batai hai wanhi rehem ki guhar bhi lagai hai. esliye ye sonch badldo ki tum ya ko RSS/BJP ke khuch us paak Quraan ka ek nukta bhi badal paoge. kuch matalab parast muslim jo name ke hai unke liye islam par ungli uthana chod do......

Actually all the religions are best but the worst things are followers because we are always trying to take personal benifits on the name of our religion. Yes Islam is in danger but from whom......... form terrorist only not from anyone else. They told we are muslims and god send us to save islam but they don't know the MEANING of ISLAM. God is not so cheap that he will comes in their dreams and ask them to save anything, God is so powerfull who can do anything by its own. So Don't critisize any community, critisize only wrong things.
