शास्त्री, चैपल और रैना का टोटका

आज सुबह-सुबह मैंने अख़बार खोला (अर्र... ग़लत मत समझा करो, आज ही नहीं रोज़ ही खोलता हूँ यार और पढ़ता भी हूँ) तो पाया कि बांग्लादेश दौरे के लिए रवि शास्त्री को भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम का कोच और प्रबन्धक बना दिया गया है। "रवि शास्त्री" - यह नाम सुनते ही क्या याद आता है? याद आता है एक महा खुटर-खुटर बल्लेबाज़ जो शायद ही कभी रन बनाता हो। जिसके क्रीज़ पर आते ही जनता हूटिंग शुरु कर देती हो, हल्ला मचाने लगती हो। जिसे देखते ही लोग अपना टीवी बन्द कर देते हों। और जो फिर भी 'ऑलराउण्डर' कहलाता हो।

यह ख़बर सुनकर मुझे बड़ा धक्का लगा। इतना धक्का लगा कि हाथ से चाय का प्याला गिरते-गिरते बचा। बीसीसीआई वालों की बुद्धि पर बहुत ग़ुस्सा आया। लगा कि इससे बढ़िया तो अपना चैपल ही था, कम-से-कम उंगली तो करता रहता था। लेकिन ये जनाब तो उस लायक़ भी नहीं हैं। ख़ैर, फिर लगा कि हो सकता है मैं रवि शास्त्री को कुछ ज़्यादा ही अण्डर एस्टीमेट कर रहा हूँ।

उधर चैपल है कि कोच की क़ुर्सी जाने के बाद भी बयानबाज़ी की आदत है कि जाने का नाम ही नहीं ले रही है। चैपल ने फिर एक बार टीम के कई खिलाड़ियों पर (अगर उन्हें 'खिलाड़ी' कहा जा सहे तो...) कटाक्ष किए हैं और अपने चहेते सुरेश रैना की तारीफ़ की है। मैं कई लोगों से मिलना चाहता हूँ, जैसे - कैमरून डिआज़, ऐश्वर्या राय, सानिया मिर्ज़ा वगैरह वगैरह। इसी सूची में चैपल के 'रैना' का नाम भी है। शक़्ल से आप लोग वैसे ही समझदार लगते हैं, इसलिए बाक़ियों से क्यों मिलना चाहता हूँ यह तो नहीं बताऊँगा। हाँ, रैना से मिलने की ख़ास वजह है। रैना से मिलकर ये जानना चाहता हूँ कि चैपल के वशीकरण के लिए उसने कौन-से तांत्रिक टोटके का इस्तेमाल किया है। एक बार ऐसा तंत्र-मंत्र हाथ लग जाए ताकि अपनी लिस्ट के बाक़ी लोगों पर मैं भी उसे आज़मा कर देख सकूँ। :-)

आख़िर क्यों हारा भारत?

सचिन तेन्दुलकर, एक ऐसा नाम जिसे विश्व क्रिकेट के सर्वकालिक महानतम बल्लेबाज़ों में शुमार किया जाता है। सौरव गांगुली, राहुल द्रविड़, वीरेन्द्र सहवाग - ये सभी वे खिलाड़ी हैं जिन्हें आज के दौर में क्रिकेट की बड़ी शख़्सियत माना जाता है। कल तक मीडिया इन लोगों की प्रशस्तियाँ गा रहा था, तारीफ़ में कसीदे पढ़ रहा था और आज खलनायकों की तरह पेश कर रहा है, पानी पी-पी के कोस रहा है।

प्रश्न उठता है कि फिर ये रणबांकुरे क्यों न तार सके विश्वकप में हिन्दुस्तान की नैया? ये वही खिलाड़ी हैं जिनके नाम हज़ारों रन दर्ज हैं। तो क्या ये खिलाड़ी अचानक खेलना ही भूल गए? अगर हम भारतीय खिलाड़ियों की तुलना ऑस्ट्रेलियाई खिलाड़ियों से करें, तो पाएंगे कि व्यक्तिगत रूप से भारतीय खिलाड़ी कहीं बेहतर हैं। लेकिन फ़र्क़ सिर्फ़ इतना है कि भारतीय खिलाड़ी बड़े मैचों में दबाव को नहीं सह पाते हैं और बिखर जाते हैं। वहीं ऑस्ट्रेलियाई खिलाड़ी अपनी दबाव झेलने की क्षमता के चलते कई दफ़ा हारे हुए मैच भी जीत जाते हैं।

जो लोग मनोविज्ञान को समझते हैं, वो जानते होंगे कि दबाव में प्रदर्शन करना सबसे मुश्किल काम है। दरअसल टीम इण्डिया को मनोवैज्ञानिक की ज़रूरत है जो उन्हें समझा सके, सिखा सके कि बड़े मैचों में मन को दबाव के इस हौवे से कैसे दूर रखा जा सके। किसी बड़े मैच से पहले खिलाड़ी जिस मानसिक तनाव से गुज़रते हैं, आम लोगों के लिए उसे समझ पाना भी मुश्किल है।

जिन्ना का द्विराष्ट्रवाद का सिद्धांत आख़िरकार ग़लत साबित हो ही गया। भारत और पाकिस्तान, दोनों मुल्क भले ही पचास साल पहले अलग हो गए हों, लेकिन विश्वकप में दोनों देशों के ख़राब प्रदर्शन ने दिखला दिया कि दोनों कमोबेश एक जैसे ही हैं। जहाँ पाकिस्तान ने आयरलैंड के हाथों पटखनी खाई, वहीं हिन्दुस्तान ने बांग्लादेश से हार का स्वाद चखा। दोनों का ख़ून वही है, जो कब क्या रंग दिखाए यह पता नहीं चलता है। दोनों शुरुआती दौर में ही फिसड्डी टीमों के हाथों हार गए।

ख़ैर, इससे ज्योतिष की विश्वसनीयता भी साबित होती है। भारत-पाकिस्तान भले ही अपना स्वतंत्रता दिवस अलग-अलग दिन मनाते हों, लेकिन आज़ाद एक ही दिन हुए हैं और इसीलिए दोनों के कुण्डलियाँ भी लगभग एक-सी हैं। लगता है कि दोनों के नक्षत्र ख़राब चल रहे हैं और जन्म-पत्रियों में बच्चे देशों के हाथों पिटना लिखा था। भारत-पाकिस्तान की हालत देखकर तो लगता है मानो गली-मुहल्ले के किसी ढीली चड्ढी पहने अंगूठा चूसते बच्चे ने गामा और सेण्डो पहलवानों को धराशायी कर दिया हो।

ख़ैर, जो हुआ सो हुआ। लेकिन अपना वूल्मर बेचारा बात दिल पर ले गया। यहाँ करोड़ों भारतीय आस लगाए बैठे थे कि शायद सदमा चैपल को लगे और टीम इंडिया की ग्यारह भेड़ों को बेरहमी से ठोंक-ठोंक कर हाँकने वाले गढ़रिये का खेल निपटे, लेकिन जैसा बिन्दु के पिताजी ने कहा है - "जब-जब जो-जो होना है, तब-तब सो-सो होता है" (अरे यार, "पड़ोसन" में भोले की प्रेमिका बिन्दु) यानि जो होना होता है वही होता है और हुआ भी वही जो होना था। गुरू ग्रेग टीम के शर्मनाक प्रदर्शन पर अभी भी मीडिया के सामने खींसें निपोर रहे हैं और वहीं बेचारे बॉब साहब इतने आहत हुए कि इस लोक से ही अपना बोरिया-बिस्तर समेट लिया।

बचपन में पाठशाला में एक 'अचार जी' गणित पढ़ाते थे। उनसे मैं जब भी कोई सवाल पूछता था और वो बतला नहीं पाते थे, और ऐसा अक़्सर होता था, तो वो किसी और बच्चे को खड़ा करते, उससे एक कठिन-सा सवाल पूछते और न बता पाने पर बबूल की संटी से उसकी जमकर धुनाई करते थे और मेरा ग़ुस्सा उसपर उतार देते थे। हमारी टीम इंडिया का हाल भी काफ़ी-कुछ उन अचारजी की ही तरह है। बांग्लादेश ने पछीट-पछीट के धोया तो उसका ग़ुस्सा बेचारी बरमूडा पर उतारा। लेकिन मैं न कभी अचारजी से पिटने वाले उन बच्चों के लिए कुछ कर सका और न ही बरमूडा के लिए कुछ कर सकता हूँ, सिवाय सहानुभूति रखने के।
